The Autazes Potash Project will contribute to food

The Autazes Potash Project will contribute to food security in Brazil and the world and drive sustainable development in Autazes, Amazonas.

Among the infrastructure projects that will remain in the municipality after the completion of the project is the installation of a 165 km power transmission line to support the project.

The utility company may make part of this transmission line available to municipal centers and nearby communities, reaching 200,000 people who currently rely on diesel-powered generators, which produce greenhouse gases. With this transmission line, the community will gain access to cleaner energy.

Additionally, a 12-kilometer road will be rebuilt between the communities of Vila de Urucurituba and Lago do Soares, and a large port will be constructed to transport the mined product.

According to the National Mining Agency (ANM), Bra

According to the National Mining Agency (ANM), Brazil produces around 300,000 tons per year of Potassium Chloride fertilizer. However, the annual demand exceeds 13 million tons, making the country dependent on imports from Canada, Russia, Belarus, Israel, and Germany.

The ANM also states that Brazil's potassium reserves have a potential of 2.9 billion tons. The production of the Autazes Potash Project, which is licensed for installation and currently in the implementation phase, is estimated at 2.2 million tons of Potassium Chloride per year.

Today, Brazil relies heavily on imports, consuming about 13 million tons annually. Our production will meet approximately 20% of the national demand. The only Potassium Chloride mine in Brazil, located in Sergipe, produces around 300,000 tons per year, meeting just 3% of the national market.

The information is based on Ember’s annual and monthly electricity reports from 2023. Brazil is the G20 leader in this sector, with 89% of its energy generated from renewable sources.

The country’s high percentage of renewables is due to its strong hydroelectric base and the rapid expansion of solar and wind energy. The global average for renewable energy is 30%, but nearly half of G20 countries fall below this average. Canada ranks second, generating 66% of its energy from renewable sources, mainly hydroelectric.

Russia, the world’s second-largest producer of potassium, ranks near the bottom of the chart for clean energy. Potássio do Brasil is committed to primarily using renewable energy in its operations and will produce Green Potassium, a measure aligned with the country's overall strategy to remain a global leader in this sector.

Blue November is a global campaign held throughout the entire month, aiming to raise awareness among men about the importance of prevention and early diagnosis of prostate cancer. Potássio do Brasil, as a Citizen Company, supports this cause and creates space on its social media to spread awareness and engage men in this important issue.

Raising awareness about prostate cancer is essential, as it is the most common type of cancer in men, with stigma around exams and the topic itself often hindering the chances of a cure. The lack of information leads many men to seek medical help only at advanced stages of the disease, which compromises the effectiveness of treatment.

Men, join the Blue November movement, visit a urologist, and undergo regular exams if you are 45 or older. Raising awareness is the first step towards prevention and helps save lives.

Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 15 focuses on protecting, restoring, and promoting the sustainable use of ecosystems, managing forests sustainably, combating desertification, and halting and reversing land degradation and biodiversity loss.

Among the UN’s guidelines is the conservation, restoration, and sustainable use of inland freshwater ecosystems and their services, particularly forests, wetlands, mountains, and drylands, in line with obligations under international agreements.
By 2030, the goal is to combat desertification, restore degraded land and soil, including areas affected by desertification, droughts, and floods, and strive to achieve a land degradation-neutral world.
